Chenrezig Institute holds a Mani Retreat each year (since our founder Lama Zopa Rinpoche himself started the practice with us in 2000). The practice engaged in during the retreat is one that was written by His Holiness Dalai Lama himself and is a profound method for generating compassion for all sentient beings. The registration fee for attending the whole retreat is $150 or $60 for first weekend only (Accommodation and meals not included in this price).

The retreat begins with an introductory session at 6.30pm on Friday 16th September. The schedule consists of four sessions of guided meditations per day: sessions which include visualising Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), generating great compassion for all beings, and reciting the mantra of Chenrezig OM MANI PADME HUM, until midday on Friday, 23rd September.

All are welcome to attend this beautiful retreat. The retreat leaders are Venerable Lozang Pema and Venerable Gonpo, who are ordained sangha members in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of the same lineage as His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Chenrezig Institute - Tibetan Buddhist Centre

Chenrezig Institute is a Buddhist study, retreat and meditation centre perched on the edge of the Blackall Range in the Sunshine Coast hinterland of Queensland, Australia. We are tucked away in a rainforest setting, seven kilometres from the township of Eudlo.

The centre was founded in 1974 by Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. It was one of the first

Tibetan Buddhist centres established in the western world and remains one of the largest. It is a registered non-profit organisation.

The centre is home to a resident community of Buddhist monks and nuns, and has facilities including a gompa (meditation hall), the Big Love Cafe which serves delicious vegetarian meals, an art studio, a library and a shop, and beautiful gardens to enjoy.
