Josie
I have been practicing yoga for over 30 years, teaching for 15 years, running my own boutique studio for eight of those. I have loved teaching every class. And am passionate about using the philosophy and techniques of yoga and meditation to harness, enhance and enjoy creative pursuits.
My foundation training was an 18-month 700-hour Hatha/Vinyasa teacher certification. With a continuing learning and teaching philosophy draws from a broad spectrum of Yoga and other Eastern movement traditions and Mindfulness and Meditation practices. I am particularly influenced by Insight Yoga, Yin, Vinni Yoga and Qigong. I am lucky to have undertaken additional teacher training in these areas with world leaders, in particular, Sarah & Ty Powers - Insight Yoga & Buddhist Meditation; Paul Grilley – Founder of Yin Yoga; and Donna Farhi. I have also undertaken Yoga Therapy for Breast cancer and Lymphoedema teacher training with yoga therapist, Annette Louden and Yoga for Pain Care training and am a certified practitioner with Yoga for Pain Care, Australia.
In tandem with my yoga practice is a curiosity and commitment to Insight and Mindfulness meditation. I completed my Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teaching certification with the Mindfulness Teaching Institute of Australia (MTIA) in 2015 and I am currently studying for a Graduate Diploma with the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors, (AIPC).
My hope is to ignite a curiosity for my students to explore the possibilities of their practise.
